September Preschool Themes
Back to School Theme – Start with some fun and simple activities to get students back into the swing of school. With fun images of school supplies, they’ll learn literacy and math concepts through simple activities.
All About Me Theme – Incorporate literacy activities into the “All About Me” theme by encouraging preschoolers to explore their personal stories. Through storytelling and creative expression, kids can develop a love for reading and writing while celebrating what makes them special. Simple projects like making “About Me” posters, creating sensory bins related to their favorite things, or making personalized puppets can help kids explore their interests and unique traits.
Emotions and Five Senses Theme– This Emotions and Five Senses Theme lesson is a fun way to teach your littles about how their body and brain work together. From identifying different sounds and smells to exploring textures and colors, they’ll develop a deeper connection with their surroundings, while also building skills like sorting, letter and number recognition, discussions, and so much more! Exploring their environment through their senses gives them a head start in recognizing their emotions and how to express them.
Family Theme – Use the family theme to teach learning concepts through the family unit. Teach students that all families may look different but their common bond is love. Teach about family trees, what makes up a family, and where families live.
Apples Theme – Apples are a quintessential September idea. While apple growing and picking season is among us at this time, it’s also become so popular – for good reason! There is so much to teach in regards to apples and using them for educational purposes is so fun- think colors, counting, sorting, and more!
Community Helpers Theme – Whether your preschooler is fascinated by firefighters, police officers, construction workers, or any other helpers they see around their community we have a variety of activities to spark their imagination and foster a love of helping others. Simple projects like making sensory bins, creating snacks into fire trucks, or assembling-themed puppets can teach kids about different professions and their unique benefits to the community.
Weather Theme – Weather activities for preschoolers are hands-on learning experiences that introduce young children to the concepts of weather, seasons, and atmospheric phenomena. These activities are designed to be interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate, allowing children to explore and understand different aspects of weather playfully.
On the Farm Theme – Worksheets and crafts centered around On the Farm can instill a sense of awareness and knowledge. By engaging in these activities, children can develop a deeper understanding of what is found On the Farm and what they eat. Additionally, creating art related to their favorite animals can build a personal connection, fostering empathy and a desire to protect wildlife as they grow older.
Mud and Dirt Theme – Teach your students all about mud and dirt and how it enriches our lives. This is a great lesson to teach how plants and animals use dirt to thrive and grow, but also the ways we can use it to play.
Fall and Leaves Theme – Coming into the end of September, your students will start noticing the leaves changing color and the weather getting cooler. This is a great time to teach about the change of the seasons, what happens to the leaves, and common activities we do in the fall.
Fire Safety and Prevention Theme- Fire Prevention Week is officially in October, but you can always start learning early! It is critical we teach them the importance of the precautions they can/need to take in a possibly dangerous situation. Learning about smoke detectors, fire alarms, fire extinguishers and other helpful items will give them a head start on protecting themselves.
Woodland Animals Theme – Create a love for animals that live in the woods amongst your students with this fun theme. Teach literacy and math concepts with the help of some cuddly animals like bears, fox, and squirrels, while also having them gain an understanding for how and where these animals live.
Zoo Animals Theme – Whether your preschooler is fascinated by roaring lions, curious monkeys, or graceful giraffes, we have a variety of activities to spark their imagination and foster a love for wildlife. Simple projects like making paper plate animal masks, creating handprint animal art, or assembling animal-themed puppets can teach kids about different species and their unique features.
Transportation Theme – From hands-on crafts to interactive games, these activities will not only entertain but also educate your little adventurers. Your students will have a thrilling ride filled with imaginative play, educational experiences, and plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning.
