Winter math activities can be educational and fun at the same time. Counting is a major educational standard and students will learn how to count and excel in basic math skills with this fun winter activity.
I put together a set of eleven ten-frame mats with a penguin theme that will help them learn to count up to ten, especially during the winter. Using a ten frame, these counting printables are perfect to use with your preschooler, pre-k student, or kindergartener.
These worksheets are usually in my Teaching Littles shop, but they are now available to you for FREE.
Your child will get to practice these important skills while counting cute little arctic penguins. This is a perfect complement during your arctic animal theme, penguin lessons, or winter theme lessons, as well.
All you need is a printer, paper, a pencil, and counters to get started with this freebie.

Grab These Winter Penguin Math Printables
When you receive this counting printable, you’ll get eight sheets of penguin ten frames. You’ll cut the pages on the line to divide each sheet into 3 strips of ten frames.
This file comes in two different options for those with color printing and those without. You can choose to print the black and white option (first 4 pages) or the all color option (last 4 pages).
I love using color because it’s bright and engaging for little learners, however I know that plenty of teachers are limited with color printing. This is why I wanted to provide you with both options.

Give your students the following directions:
- Place counters on each ten frame in the blank spaces to complete the board.
- Count the number of objects that you placed.
- Circle the correct number that makes up the difference.
You can use any manipulatives you choose such as pom poms, beads, counting bears, small cubes, erasers, buttons, and more!
Print pages on card stock or laminate for extra durability.
