Bugs & Insects Printable Pack

10 Bugs & Insects Printable Activities to work on skills including patterns, fine motor, math, literacy, fine motor, tracing, shape matching, counting, and more! This pack features multiple activities all in one easy place.

Bugs & Insects Dot Activities

Dot activities are excellent for many key skills in littles such as letter identification, numbers, counting, patterns and shapes. This cute lady bug themed activity will be a great bug add on.

Bugs & Insects Word Strips

Have students pick a word and copy it to their own sheet. For words with dotted lines, they can copy the word directly underneath on the given lines. They’ll love the silly pictures of the bugs to get an idea of what they look like too.

Number Trace Bug & Insects

Cut out each number caterpillar from the sheet into squares and put a pile of numbers in front of your student. Give them a sheet with the dotted numbers. Depending on their level, they can use the sheet with 1-10 or 1-20.

Simply have your student pick one number from the pile of caterpillars and place it in front of them.

Bug/Insect CVC Word Strips

Cut out each strip, 4 per page. Have your littles say the word in the picture and use manipulative or magnetic letters to make the word. You will get 40 CVC words in this activity.

Bugs & Insects Cutting Strips

Cut out strips and have students practice cutting straight lines, curved lines, squiggly lines, or zig zag lines. This is a no prep activity that will be a great touch to your mornings or in between activities.

An inexpensive and versatile craft is always one involving a paper plate. This ladybug craft will work on skills like cutting, following directions, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor control.

Make it a math game and have your littles count the black spots on their little ladybugs.

Love Bug Caterpillar

Give me all the toilet paper crafts… especially if they look this cute! The way you can form it into a heart, build your bug and boom- a love bug has been created!

Bug Building

Add cupcake liners to your shopping list or grab them from your cabinet. It’s time to put them to creative use and build a cute bug! Let your kids be creative and make their own bug or find a bug for them to make.

Printable Grasshopper Craft

This two page printable will be just what you need to create a grasshopper. This craft is sure to be a silly hit amongst your littles!

Coffee Filter Butterfly Craft

This cute little butterfly craft for kids involves coffee filters, watercolor paints, pipe cleaners, and only has a few steps. Have your littles paint both of their coffee filters and once dried, they can assemble them (with or without your help- try both!)

Butterfly Pasta

Dying bowtie pasta and turning them into butterflies will show your kids how creative crafts can really get. This can be done on construction paper, a canvas, even a poster board to make it extra large!

Paper Plate Bugs

Just looking at these says “Hello Spring!” My favorite is the caterpillar so we will for sure be doing this one! Take on the challenge of making them all and then enjoy them during dramatic play!

Mini Grasshopper

You may need a few items that you don’t have on hand for this project but it will be worth it! Even then, you can improvise with what you do have. Creating their own 3-D bug will be a blast for this theme!

Bug and Insect Sensory Activities for Toddlers & Preschoolers

Insect Sensory Bin

In this sensory bin, black beans are used for the base, then added in plastic insects and bug hunting tools such as a net, magnifying glass, and magnified bug container. Find your littles favorite bugs or even bugs on your lesson plans for this theme.

Color by the Bug Bin

Start off dying your rice. If you want to go green for grass, brown for mud or truly any color is up to you! These bug counters are just what you will need if you want to turn this sensory activity into a sorting activity too!

You’ll find a simple recipe for some clear slime in this link. Add more tools or even a fly swatter like you see here! You can’t go wrong grabbing extra items to play with. Your littles can place the bugs in the slime, work to remove them, and swat around to catch the bugs!
